To whoever needs it,

So, word on the street is that today isn’t going so great, and that is totally okay. Let’s reframe! Always remember, a day is only 24 hours.

First things first, I encourage you to get deep for a second. If you are feeling upset, can you pinpoint what set you off? Was it a bad grade on a test, or maybe you got a text you didn’t anticipate? Whatever it may be, try to readjust your mindset. Will [insert problem here] matter in five days, five weeks, five months?

Now that we have figured out the issue and its repercussions, I recommend that you change where you are. For example, if you are neck deep in your covers wallowing in your sorrows, get up and take a walk. Clear your head! By shifting from focusing on the bad to the good, positive feelings will quickly follow.

Let’s say that this bad day, no matter what you do, will not go away. If you feel like the world is closing in on you, first of all recognize that you are not alone. At this point, turn to a friend, parent, or roommate. Tell them what’s up! Sometimes talking through our feelings can be incredibly helpful. Your [insert person to lean on here] can help you to rationalize the way you feel, and more importantly cheer you up.

If someone in your life seems to be down, you can be the person to lean on too! A simple “Hey what’s up?” in person or over text can make all the difference. Always remember, caring is the coolest thing you can do!

If you did not need to hear this letter today, think back to it in the future during one of your stormier days. We can’t all be perfect all the time, and a bad day here and there is more than okay. Your feelings are normal, and you are beyond loved and appreciated by those around you.

With love,

Ainsley

  1. Ainsley, this was a wonderful Blog! You are wise beyond your years, my sweet Grandgirl!
I love the idea of taking a walk . . . as long as it’s not “a long walk down a short pier”! LOL!!
    I love you. Always.
