It’s finally that time of year…christmas sugar cookie & frosting time! My family and I have been making this recipe for years, and every year they are such a treat! If you would like to try out another one of my recipes, make sure to check out my banana muffin recipe.
The Sugar Cookies
Ingredients:
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg (beaten)
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
Let’s bake:
- In a large bowl mix together butter and sugar until the mixture is creamy
- Throughly mix in the egg, milk, and vanilla
- In a separate bowl mix the dry ingredients together (flour, salt, baking powder)
- Gradually add the dry mixture into the wet mixture and combine well
- ****IMPORTANT STEP: Form the dough into two flat disks, each in a large ziplock or plastic wrap, and store in the refrigerator for at least two hours (the disks should be rolled to be about 1/2 inch thick)
- After the disks have chilled roll them out on a floured surface to be about 1/4 inch thick
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees
- Cut the cookies in your desired shape and pop them in the oven for 9-12 minutes
- Enjoy!
The Frosting
INGREDIENTS:
- 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 tablespoon softened butter
- 1 tablespoon light corn syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla or almond extract
- food coloring if you’d like
LET’S BAKE:
- Combine powdered sugar, water, butter, corn syrup, and vanilla/almond extract in a mixing bowl
- Mix until powdered sugar is blended in and the mixture is smooth, adding water in small increments if needed
- Add the food coloring you desire
- Enjoy!
I hope you enjoy making (and eating) these cookies! The icing is soooo yummy. If you make this recipe either DM me on my instagram or comment a photo!
