Woo Hoo! I just spent the most wonderful week in Grand Haven, Michigan enjoying the lake, sun, and much needed family time. Grand Haven, known as Coast Guard City USA, is such a beautiful area and today I am going to tell you why to add this to your travel bucket list, and how to maximize your experience in this cute city.

Did Someone Say Brunch?

If you are looking for a yummy, local breakfast place, Morning Star Cafe is for you. They have all the breakfast foods you could dream of, but are really special because of their giant cinnamon rolls. If you go, you MUST have a cheat day and order a cinnamon roll to share…or to have for just yourself;)

Ahh, Lake Living

Okay, so basically if you come to Grand Haven, you’re coming for the water. Grand Haven is located on Lake Michigan, and 1) provides for a beautiful view 2) allows for all the tubing, jet skiing, and water sports you want. Don’t get mad, but Michigan’s naturally made lakes will ALWAYS beat out any man-made lake. Seriously, you won’t be able to get enough of this view.

Peaches, Blueberries, Cherries, Oh My!

Michigan peaches, blueberries, and cherries > anything else. Grand Haven’s farmers market is the hot spot for the freshest fruits and veggies. Every Wednesday and Sunday morning, you can find people happily collecting their produce from this little market. If you go, get a peach for me, will ya?

Meet Me At The Boardwalk

Here I am coordinating with the lighthouse, of course

Any time of day, the boardwalk and its lighthouse is beautiful. The pier lines up to the canal that leads to Lake Michigan, and is a great way to get your daily walk in. It is also in town, which means you can grab a bite to eat or shop after seeing the landmark red lighthouse.

I hope you use this mini travel guide if you ever decide to visit Grand Haven, MI! It is seriously such a fun, touristy, summer place that will leave you feeling refreshed and ready to return to day to day life. Also, be on the lookout for some back-to-school content;)

Stay Smiling,

Ainsley Mo
