Today, we are going to focus on something many people overlook…reading! Reading is an amazing way to escape your current reality, grow your brain, and relax. So, let’s get into it with a list of my favorite books that you should read:

  • “Where The Crawdads Sing” – A #1 New York Times Bestseller which chronicles a girl growing up alone in a swamp, and how people treat her for her upbringing. If you love romance, the beauty of nature, and coming of age this is for you. Oh, and it also revolves around a murder.
  • “Educated” – This autobiography written by Tara Westover dives into her upbringing in a abusive, cult-esque household which did not allow her to go to school. It is extremely eye opening on the importance of education and how anything is possible.
  • “Catch-22” – This is the most entertaining war story book…and maybe one of the funniest books I have ever read. 10/10 recommend!
  • “My Dark Vanessa” Intended for a more mature audience, this novel shows a unique perspective on a teacher-student relationship, and how the realization of grooming can impact the student later in life. In wakes of the “Me Too” movement, this is a very interesting- yet heartbreaking, read.
  • “What She Left Behind” – If you enjoy books with two perspectives, this period drama with a modern twist is a quick and captivating read.
  • “Brave New World” – Similar to George Orwell’s “1984”, this dystopian novel written in 1931 is eye opening to the modern reader. It explores cloning and emphasizes the use of technology in our world.
  • “What Light” – Does this book take place during Christmas time? Yes; however, it is such a cute story and a quick read, so why not read it now? Also it is written by Jay Asher, author of “13 Reasons Why”, so you know it is well written.
  • “The Fault in Our Stars” – You may have seen the movie. but the book is always better.
  • “You Are a Badass” – If you want to feel more confident, explore manifestation, and achieve your best self this book is for you.
  • “Everything, Everything”– This romance novel shows that no matter how isolated you may feel, there is always hope. This is a quick read that I highly recommend.

If you are bored (or on Spring Break coming up) I hope you refer back to this list! Reading is good for the soul, and you should really try to read a little bit each day.

Stay Smiling,

Ainsley Mo

  1. LOVE your recommendations! You have a few of my favorites on the list. “Crawdad’s” was a great read . . . didn’t want it to end! “The Fault in our Stars” is another super book! “Catch 22” and all time classic, as is Brave New World.

Another informative and great post Ainsley Maurine!! Happy Valentine’s Day!!
